Pakistan Airports History
The history of aviation in Pakistan dates back to the 1930s when the first commercial flight took off from Lahore to Delhi. Since then, the aviation industry in Pakistan has grown significantly and several international airports have been established throughout the country. Jinnah International Airport in Karachi was established in the 1940s and was initially known as Royal Pakistan Air Force Drigh Road Base. It was renamed in the memory of Pakistan's founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, after his death in 1948. Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore was established in the 1950s and was initially known as Lahore International Airport. It was renamed after the great philosopher and poet, Allama Iqbal, in the 1980s. Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad was established in the 1980s and was initially known as Chaklala Airport.
